Obtain your permit from your local Wildland Fire Management or Client Services District Office. Go to the wildland fire website for information.

Burning permits are suspended wherever the fire danger rating is moderate, high or extreme. Campfires are still permitted. Please check bulletin from the wildland fire website for list of communties and fire ratings (posted daily).

Please remember, never leave your campfire unattended, and always take proper care to extinguish your campfire completely. To report a wildfire, call 1-888.798.FIRE (3473). Ask for a copy of Wild Fire Management (WFM) campfire safety card at any Visitor Information Centre.

Additional Travel Information:

Yukon campgrounds: For Yukon residents, campground costs are $12/night or $50/season pass. The fee for non-residents is $12/night. Campground permits can be purchased from retail businesses in Whitehorse and throughout Yukon communities, from territorial agents, campground agents, or from Environment Yukon at 10 Burns Road. For more information contact YG information 867-667-5811 or go to http://environmentyukon.gov.yk.ca/pdf/annualcampgroundpermit.pdf for information on where to buy permits.

Town of Faro: Travelers are advised that there is no retail fuel outlet in the town of Faro. Visitors and residents are asked to fuel up in Carmacks or Ross River before heading to Faro.

Effective June 13, 2008: Yukon Medical Health Officer Dr. Brendan Hanley has issued a boil water advisory for Ross River. To safeguard public health, residents of Ross River who have received delivered water from the Ross River water truck are advised to boil water for two minutes prior to using it for drinking or cleaning food, preparing food, washing dishes, making ice or brushing teeth. The advisory is in effect until residents have cleaned and disinfected their water holding tank and new water is delivered.

Trail Closures: Parks Canada has closed Soldier’s Summit Trail on the northeast access to the Sheep Mountain Ridge route and surrounding land areas until further notice. These areas are located north of the Sheep Mountain visitor centre located at Km 1706.8 of the Alaska Highway. The closures have been implemented due to heavy highway construction activity on the Alaska Highway near the park boundary.

Tombstone Park - registration and permits required: Campers at Grizzly Lake, Divide Lake and Talus Lake require registration and permits obtained at the Tombstone Interpretive Centre no more than two days before the start of a trip. Day hikers are not affected. Overnight camping is open at Tombstone Park. Please stop at the park's visitor centre to ask details if wanting to camp in the area.
