What we do

Manage and preserve archaeology sites and collections, research the historic and prehistoric past, and participate in environmental assessments and land use planning to manage and protect Yukon's archaeological resources.

Manage and preserve fossil sites and collections, research Yukon's Beringian past and participate in fossil export permitting under the federal Cultural Export and Import Act.

Maintain and update geographical names database and administer a program for naming Yukon geographical features.

License scientific research pursuant to the Scientists and Explorers Act and permit archaeological research pursuant to Archaeological Sites Regulations under the Historic Resources Act.
