Geographical Place Names

The Heritage Resources Unit maintains and updates the Yukon Geographical Place Names database of over 5,000 records. The branch administers the program for naming and changing the names of Yukon geographical features such as lakes, rivers and mountains, based on recommendations of the Yukon Geographical Place Names Board.

• Canadian Geographical Names Database
  Natural Resources Canada hosts a searchable Canadian Geographical Names Data Base website which includes Yukon Geographical Place Names.
