First Nations Community Archaeology Project

This program was developed to support cooperative research between First Nation and Yukon governments in the investigation and documentation of Yukon's prehistoric past.

The First Nations Community Archaeology Project is intended to:

  • provide opportunity for community participation and student training in heritage projects
  • facilitate the integration of oral history and archaeology in into regional history
  • raise the public awareness of Yukon First Nations history and archaeology through publications and small exhibits
  • provide access to artifact replication in co-oporation with the Historic Sites Unit Restoration & Reproduction Specialist.
