"Bringing home the bacon" reads the photographer's original caption. In the North, as elsewhere, heavy machinery assumed many of the tasks previously assigned to the working horse. In this case, several hundred pounds of meat are brought home quickly and easily, and the hunter is spared the onerous task of butchering the animal in the wild. ca. 1930-1958
