In the ice-bound Yukon winter, fish are an important part of the diet. Before Europeans came to the Territory, First Nations people caught fish by spearing them through holes cut in the ice. These fish, caught with a hook and line, were all taken in thirty minutes. ca. 1930s Yukon Archives, Claude Tidd fonds #7300
