About Us

The Arts Section fosters the development and enjoyment of the arts and maintains and expands our visual art collections. We envision a Yukon where the arts flourish, where the arts and community connect, and where we take pride in our artistic resources.

To achieve this we strive to increase access and outreach to our programs, resources and services and improve our internal administrative functions.

Our arts funding programs are guided by the Arts Act, the Yukon Arts Policy and annual department and branch strategic plans.

The Minister of Tourism and Culture appoints up to nine members to the Yukon Arts Advisory Council (YAAC) which adjudicates three funding programs. The YAAC also reviews and monitors program effectiveness.

We administer an operational agreement under the Yukon Arts Centre Act to support the operations of the Yukon Arts Centre and to maintain its Board of Directors.
