Acquisition of Works

The Yukon Permanent Art Collection provides Yukoners and visitors with an opportunity to experience our cultural legacy as it is expressed through the visual arts, and contributes to the professional development and economic well-being of Yukon artists.

The Friends of the Gallery are pleased to announce an open call for submissions for work for the Yukon Permanent Art Collection. We would like to see work from artists at all stages of their careers and from all communities, so please spread the word, encourage your friends, and help contribute to a Permanent Art Collection representative of art practice in the Yukon!

Deadline for Submissions: February 15, 2008

Please keep in mind the following when considering work to submit:
• Work will be juried in February, 2008
• Results will be mailed promptly

Submissions
• Up to three (3) works per artist
• Art work must be original
• The work must be suitable for display in a public building
• If work submitted is already sold, alternate work will not be accepted
• Do not send the original work; please send images (see below)

Artist Eligibility
• Artist eligibility will not be reliant on artist’s professional status but rather on quality of the art work
• Work will be considered from all artists; however, preference will be as follows:
1. Yukon artists – an artist with 12 months residence on the closing date of the call for submissions. A resident is an individual who has, as their primary place of living, a Yukon address
2. Expatriate artists – An artist who was previously a Yukon resident but no longer has a Yukon address
3. Non-Yukon artists – an artist who does not and never has lived in the Yukon whose work has a resonance in the north

Images
• Slides, prints, or digital images are acceptable; please submit only one format. Multiple images of each work will be accepted if required to best present the work; details are encouraged. Note that slides represent the best quality of reproduction of work to the Acquisition Committee.
• Slides or prints:
o Slides and prints should be clearly labeled with artist’s name, and title of work, and marked with an arrow in the upper right hand corner to indicate the top and correct viewing side of the slide. If submitting details, number images in order of viewing, e.g. 01, 02, 03 etc.
o Submit with completed Yukon Permanent Art Submission form

• Digital images:
o Digital images should be either jpg or tif files at a resolution of 72 dpi in RGB colour mode
o Images must be PC compatible
o Label each image with the artist’s name and the title or the work in the following format: last name_first name_title of work (e.g. doe_jane_untitled.jpg)
o If detail images are included, label each file (image) with the artist’s last name, first name, title and sequential number (e.g. doe_jane_untitled01.jpg, joe_jane_untitled01.jpg)
o Submit with completed Yukon Permanent Art Submission form
